Clark’s Ferry Tavern, Watts Buffalo Community Center Awarded Grants, Says Stambaugh

April 21, 2021

HARRISBURG – The Commonwealth Financing Authority today approved grant money totaling $38,772 for the Clark’s Ferry Tavern and $4,250 for Watts Buffalo Community Center, according to Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Cumberland).

“I’m so pleased the authority recognized the value of these two projects, which will enhance tourism and recreation opportunities in Perry County,” Stambaugh said.

The grant for Clark’s Ferry Tavern will support designing the “Tavern Green” portion of the rehabilitation project. The design will include restroom facilities, pavilions and a public green space that can accommodate fundraisers, fairs, art exhibitions and community days.

Watts Buffalo Community Center is seeking to create more recreation activities for children and adults. It offers the only community park in Watts Township and New Buffalo.

The grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to support planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of open spaces or recreation areas.
