HARRISBURG – Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata) expressed his condolences for the Pennsylvania State Police trooper killed and concern for the trooper wounded in the line of duty today in Juniata County.

“Once again we see the dedication our law enforcement officers bring to the front lines to protect us from wrongdoers,” Stambaugh said. “Because these troopers stood up, their families and everyone in law enforcement are now torn apart with grief. Please pray for healing for everyone affected.”

According to reports, a man engaged troopers in Mifflintown Borough over the lunch hour and shot one, who was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. During an ensuing search, the suspect was found in the area of Swamp Road and Baumgardner Drive in Walker Township. At that time, troopers exchanged gunfire with the suspect, with the gunman and a trooper both being shot and killed.
