HARRISBURG – More than $360,000 in grant money will be coming to Perry and Juniata counties’ hard-working first responders under the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, according to Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Cumberland).

A total of 24 fire companies and ambulance squads in the 86th District are recipients of the grants administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and state Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The money — coming from proceeds generated by slot machine gaming — can be used for facility upgrades, equipment purchases or repair, debt reduction, education and public outreach, training, or volunteer recruitment and retention.

“Firefighters and those who provide emergency medical services put themselves on the line every day for our townships and boroughs. Most do so as volunteers. These grants are one small way to support their tireless efforts and boost public safety,” Stambaugh said.
