August 17, 2026

HARRISBURG – School districts serving students in Perry and Juniata counties can benefit from nearly $1 million in state funding dedicated to improving school safety and security, Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata) announced.

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee approved a total of 966,447 to local schools to support efforts aimed at creating safer learning environments. The districts must apply to receive the non-competitive grants already earmarked to them.

“Providing our schools with the resources they need to keep students and staff safe is a responsibility we all share,” Stambaugh said. “These investments will allow districts to strengthen security measures and take proactive steps to protect their communities.”

The following school districts received funding:

• Fannett-Metal School District: $116,977.
• Greenwood School District: $131,201.
• Newport School District: $143,234.
• Susquenita School District: $179,413.
• West Perry School District: $195,887.
• Juniata County School District: $199,735.

The PCCD School Safety and Security Committee provides funding to schools and other eligible organizations throughout Pennsylvania for initiatives that enhance physical security, improve emergency preparedness, and address the mental health of students and school employees.

Stambaugh noted continued investments in school safety are essential to ensuring students can focus on learning.
